Taking care of a claim is always a straight-forward process at Miller Restoration. First, their team receives the claim information from the insurance company. Next, they contact the claimant immediately to set up an appointment and come by to inspect the property and determine the extent of the damage. Their emergency service team will then work hard to contain the damage and prevent any further loss to the property. Depending upon the severity of the damage, this emergency service may take up to a week to complete.

Once the actual emergency has been contained, the Miller Restoration team is also called upon to repair and restore the client’s property to its original condition. Miller Restoration was originally established in 1995 by local entrepreneur Greg Miller. Matt joined the firm as lead estimator in 1996 and eventually purchased the company from Greg in 2007.

“Greg and I had a good working relationship and he taught me a great deal about the industry,” Matt says. “So when Greg decided to sell the business to me, it was a very natural transition. We’re still working with many of the clients Greg and I helped to establish.” According to Matt, one of their firm’s most important priorities over the years has been the need to continuously improve their services – particularly when it comes to company training.

“We’re big on education,” he explains. “We’re always sending our estimators, trades and technicians for courses on thermography and mould management. That way we can keep on top of changes in the industry and stay one step ahead of the competition.”

Miller Restoration has also expanded their business by getting involved with several prominent organizations. For example, their firm is a member of Disaster Kleenup International (DKI) – a leading network of property damage restoration contractors that has been servicing insurance firms and corporations since 1994. Their DKI membership allows Miller Restoration to offer their clients with an even higher level of emergency and restoration service while still maintaining their identity as an independent contractor.

Matt is also a firm believer in helping out in the Niagara community. Miller Restoration supports a number of different charities including The Salvation Army, Pelham Cares, and Community Care of St. Catharines & Thorold. Over the past decade, their team has hosted a charity baseball tournament that has helped raise ove r $50,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

“Giving back to the community is a big part of what we do at Miller Restoration,” Matt says. “This June, we made a sizeable donation to the Fonthill Lions Club to help them replace their roof.”
