At Miller DIY stands for 'Dry It Yourself'

Nobody wants to experience a flood, but sometimes, it happens. We can help you dry it out, pronto.

Ah, autumn … beautiful foliage, cooler temperatures, torrential rain.

What’s not to love about autumn in Niagara?

Well, the rain, for one thing. Niagara’s monthly precipitation average usually falls somewhere between 60mm and 100mm of wet stuff – or occasionally more. If this year’s Old Farmer’s Almanac is to be believed, autumn and winter 2018-2019 will bring our region above-normal levels of precipitation, including rain and snowfall.

What’s a homeowner to do, then, when the wet stuff saturates the ground and invades our homes?

At Miller Restoration, we have seen all kinds of damage caused by water – from floods (whether from appliance failure, or from groundwater penetration); from fire rescue operations, or from roof leaks or foundation cracks over long periods of time.

Our Miller team of experts knows only too well that water damage brings with it a unique set of problems, from mould and bacteria growth, to weakening of structural supports crucial to a home’s stability. As a member of Disaster Kleenup International, we have helped homeowners rectify problems caused by clean water, grey water and black water damage, successfully and in a timely manner.

Clean-up from water damage, however, can run a homeowner’s maintenance budget off the rails. That’s why our team of technicians came up with a plan that allows homeowners to “dry it themselves,” for smaller water-damaged areas, with help from our Miller experts.

Miller’s “Dry It Yourself” program provides homeowners with the resources and equipment to which they otherwise would not have access, while addressing up to 1200 square feet of space damaged by water.

All DIY packages include an inspection to help the homeowner locate the affected area, with recommendations on how to dry things out. They also include:

* Miller team members’ on-site and travel time;

* water extraction;

* application of disinfectant, up to 1200 square feet of space;

* moisture metering;

* setting up and taking down all equipment;

* the removal of affected building materials, and

* no hidden fees.

Package A: Will dry up to 400 square feet of space. Includes three air movers for use up to one week; one extra-large dehumidifier to use up to one week, and up to six hours of a technician’s time, helping you place the equipment and suggesting ways to correct your moisture problems. Cost is $899.

Package B: Will dry up to 800 square feet of space. Includes six air movers for use up to one week; one extra-large dehumidifier for use up to one week, and up to 10 hours of a technician’s time to assist you in placing and using equipment. Cost is $1,599.

Package C: Will dry up to 1200 square feet of space. Includes 10 air movers for use up to one week; one extra-large dehumidifier to use up to one week, and up to 15 hours of a technician’s time, helping you place the equipment and suggesting ways to correct your moisture problems. Cost is $2,499.

For all packages, additional labour time may be purchased for $90 per hour (includes two technicians and vehicle). Tax is not included in listed pricing.

All packages also include our Miller trademark quick response time (we can be on site within two hours, during regular business hours);  the loan of professional drying equipment; advice from our expert technicians, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing your home and family are protected from health hazards caused by water damage.

Additional benefits may include a nod of approval from your insurance company, due to the fact “Dry It Yourself” is a claims-free program. If you have never made a claim to date, you will likely get to keep your “claims-free” insurance discount.

Dry It Yourself is best suited for home owners who are experiencing smaller losses that may be under your insurance deductible amount, or water losses that may be not worth claiming for under your home insurance policy. It’s a great resource that we are proud to offer Niagara home owners.
